Sewing project bunting workshop

A few months ago I was lucky enough to win a place on a free workshop at Guthrie & Ghani run by Lauren one of the first sewing bee contestants. This was a complete coincidence and please note although I watch the sewing bee the fact I'm posting nothing but sewing bee is just down to finding crafty bargains, I'm not a crazy fan.
As a part of the workshop run by the lovely Lauren, we got lovely tea and biscuits and to pick from a large choice of fabric and tapes. The catch was that we had our pictures taken for publicity, which I can totally deal with being called a model and will use for years to come.
I would very much recommend any classes at Guthrie & Ghani. The staff are all genuinely lovely and the shop is stocked with a great variety of only the cutest products. The work space has a light and airy feel, the latest sewing machines and over lockers and meters of bunting.
The turquoise and pink bunting I created adorns the small landing we have and where I have the majority of my craft supplies.

Sewing project - Pin cushion

I have completed another of my many Great British Sewing Bee kits. This kit was to make 2 pin cushions and contains everything you need. The pattern pieces are printed onto a sheet of cotton. All you need to do is cut them out and follow the steps. It's was a little fiddly to turn it put once sewing was complete. However, I'm really please with the outcome.

Sewing project - envelope cushion cover

Recently I have rekindled my love for sewing. I found some Great British Sewing Bee project kits greatly reduced at my local Dunelm Mill.

Needless to say I bought every sort I could get my hands on. I thought I would start off with a simple envelope cushion cover which was labeled a beginner level project.I have completed 2 of theses. I believe the same type of cushion cover could be made with 2 fat quarters.

I would recommend these sewing kits. The instructions are easy to follow and have useful diagrams.

Detour to Creativity

Welcome!

This blog has been set up to document my detour into my creativity.

I hope you can all join me to be inspired to get more creative and forget the daily stresses of modern life.

Please see one of my recent creations. It's a simple lamp shade made out of some awesome vintage slides of scifi magazines from the 50's and 60's. I have also made a smaller version out of old holiday slides.
